P - thanks for saving me the time of posting my thoughts regarding NDB deal. After the Datek fiasco, I think I remember that someone mentioned NDB as a possible replacement, but can't remember who is was.....

anyway, regarding this...

I don't believe we will see IPO's out of GNET. I hope not.

I think that this would make an interesting discussion on the thread (i.e. positive and negative aspects of spinning off SI, etc.)
My take is that Russ and Co. are like the A-Team....they are constructing an arsenal of weapons out of common household appliances and some Duct Tape.

Acquire a msg board at a bargain, add features, acquire a kick ass charting service at a bargain, make a strategic alliance with an OLB, etc. etc.

>take your "financial supersite" and spin it off as an IPO while holding a large chuck of the interest in the new co.

>stock goes up (we hope) and increases the value of that large chunk of interest

>supersite maintains a long term strategic alliance with parent co.

>everybody makes money

What would be some negative consequences of the spin-off?

regards, #26
