ALTAVISTA ACQUIRES TRANSIUM TO DELIVER CUSTOM SEARCH HOSTING SERVICES

RELATED SYMBOLS: (YHOO)(CMGI)(AAPL)

PALO ALTO, Calif., Feb 9, 2000 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- AltaVista
Company, the premier media and commerce network at
altavista.com , and a majority owned operating company of
CMGI Inc. (Nasdaq: CMGI), today announced that it will acquire Transium
Corporation, a leading provider of e-commerce navigational services.
Transium will become part of the newly formed AltaVista Business
Solutions Group that provides global Internet search services to
e-commerce and portal sites. Transium, based in Los Altos, Calif.,
provides services to leading Internet companies Yahoo! Finance, Intuit
Finance Network, ConsumerReports.org, and Office.com. Terms of the
agreement were not disclosed.

Transium is AltaVista's latest move to provide e-commerce companies,
portals and global enterprises with a complete search solution based on
its relevant, fast and effective search technology. With the addition
of Transium, AltaVista Business Solutions strengthens its position to
meet the growing demands facing companies in the age of e-commerce.

"Transium's technology adds a critical component to AltaVista Business
Solutions in its mission to deliver a premier custom hosted search
solution," said Greg Memo, vice president and general manager of
AltaVista Search. "Hosted search solutions allow companies to focus on
growing and sustaining their businesses rather than deploying valuable
IT resources for search services."

Transium's technology, a robust solution that specializes in hosting
proprietary content or specific web content, will allow AltaVista to
provide custom search services to companies worldwide. AltaVista will
use this technology to create and host a custom index of a company's
Web site or other content and to provide fast, relevant search results
to its users. This solution is expected to be especially attractive to
fast-growing companies that need a rapidly deployed, customized search
solution, or to vertical portals that want to provide industry-specific
information to their customers.

"Transium's hosted search technology helps companies to realize a more
rapid return on investment, with no additional internal resources
required to implement and support the application," said Paul Sutter,
CEO of Transium Corporation. "This strategic acquisition will create a
powerful search solution with the benefits of custom hosted services."

Transium brings to AltaVista a talented team of sales, service,
marketing and product development professionals who maintain an
expertise in the custom hosting sector.

About Transium Corporation Transium Corporation develops and hosts Web
