Video Headquarters Inc. Announces Expanded Online Business Presence Wed Feb 09 09:19:00 EST 2000
CALGARY, Alberta, Feb 9, 2000 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Trevor M. Hillman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Video Headquarters Inc. (CDNX:VHS) in conjunction with its development partner, Web Capital Group Inc. (OTCBB:WBCG), is pleased to announce the strategic positioning of its Internet subsidiary and name change of TheMovieSource.com Corp., to E-Trend Networks, Inc.
E-Trend Networks, Inc., a Nevada Corporation, has undergone a process of significant growth over the past several months as the Company has transitioned to become a premiere Vertical Portal "Vortal" for entertainment e-commerce. Originally conceived as TheMovieSource.com, an e-commerce web site to engage in the sale and distribution of filmed entertainment, E-Trend Networks has grown to become a "vortal" of several networked entertainment-related e-commerce web sites. Using proprietary and state-of-the-art technologies including Net Perceptions for real-time sales recommendations and icontact for real-time, online customer service and sales assistance, E-Trend Networks' e-commerce sites are initially slated to include the sale of VHS and DVD formatted filmed entertainment, music, video games and software. In the near future, and with the imminent launch of TheMovieSource.com, the Company expects to expand its list of entertainment products and services so as to become the premiere vortal on the Internet for entertainment related products and services.
E-Trend Networks will continually grow the depth of its entertainment marketing presence both virtually and through bricks and mortar retail networks. The Company plans to execute its strategic expansion through its own development of entertainment-related web sites, as well as the acquisition of virtual and physical entertainment retailers. To this end, the Company is currently negotiating strategic acquisitions and alliances to greatly enhance the depth of its product and service offerings.
The company's strategy includes the creation of aggregated cross-portal user demographic profiles, which with the assistance of Net Perceptions and icontact, will aid in referring qualified leads and generating targeted offers within the E-Trend Networks vertical market, as well as to it's strategic partners. Based on demographic data gathered, the Company's online sales representatives will provide customers with tailored sales recommendations, and will successfully create human relationships online. E-Trend Networks web sites will further extend their virtual reach with the implementation of the Company's industry-leading affiliate program. Offering its affiliate partners up to 30 per cent of gross profit, the Company's web sites will provide a full sales-bolstering proprietary toolkit to its affiliate partners.
Commenting on the expanded business opportunity, Mr. Hillman said, "By focusing on the entertainment market, we believe E-Trend Networks will provide a broad set of products and services tailored to our entertainment-loving target audience. We are convinced that our customers will embrace the timely and relevant offers presented to them, and thus a greater number of browsers will become purchasers. The consumer will not have to look any further than E-Trends Networks' web sites for all their entertainment needs."
The first of E-Trend Networks' subsidiary sites, TheMovieSource.com, is slated to launch in February 2000. TheMovieSource.com will be a price leader and definitive source for over 100,000 filmed entertainment and top-selling music titles.
With regard to E-Trend Networks' anticipated effect on the profitability of Video Headquarters Inc., Mr. Hillman said,"Fiscal 2000 has been a time of record revenues and profitability for Video Headquarters. The formation of E-Trend Networks will be another significant milestone in our aggressive expansion. The creation of E-Trend Networks heralds a strategic move on the part of the Company to diversify its revenue streams and insulate our traditional retail presence from the potential effects of technology."
