CB, i'm not so much worried about CSCO tech being outmoded...after all they take over 20 co's every year to get access to the latest know-how and gadgets. plus, although they pay outrageous prices (in stock of course) they can massage their earnings nicely that way (pooling of interest accounting, in-process R&D, the whole shebang). look at their earnings report...all those exceptions and non-recurring items make one's head spin.
no, my concern is with the valuation. it used to be ridiculous, but by now it's absurd. it's almost as if the market wanted to insult those who sold it when it was priced ridiculously...<gg>
