I had been thinking to have broadband internet access for a while but did not sign up because I felt there were not enough broadband contents appealing to me( I don't play mp3 or internet games). One of a few occasions I need high speed internet access is to download software, for which I could live with my 56k modem. On the other hand, there isn't much difference in costs b/w cable modem ($40/month) and dial-up access ( $14/mon for one dedicated phone line plus $21/mon for unlimited internet access by ATT worldnet service). My situation was there is no much need of broadband but it does not cost much extra either. I was standing on top of fence. One cold call and free installation could easily push me to broadband camp.
