April 27, 1997 Bill Carraway, CEO Green Oasis Environmental, Charleston, SC NASDAQ - GRNO
YMM: Give us a brief overview and history of Green Oasis. Bill: Green Oasis has been a development stage company since it was founded in 1991. Our concentration has been finding a solution to 5 billion gallons of waste motor oil that is available annually worldwide which virtually has no value. Coming up with a concept that would make economic sense in solving this environmental problem is basically what we have accomplished. Our process converts waste motor oil to high-grade, highly-marketable diesel fuel. Our international strategy is to sell the machines that use our process overseas and collect the royalties, while domestically we are attempting to acquire waste oil collection companies and convert them to our process. Our profit margin on a gallon of diesel fuel is currently about 40 cents which gives us a return on investment in less than 24 months. YMM: How was the first quarter of 1997 and what is your outlook for the remainder of the year? Bill: We had an excellent first quarter. We've reported $.12 a share in earnings. We expect to be consistent with that this year and certainly this being our first real active quarter we would expect that to build throughout the year and earnings improve to levels in the $.50, $.60 plus a share this year. YMM: What is the status of your patent on this process? Bill: That patent is still pending. It is a process patent. We're in the narrowing stage as they call it between the company and the boys in Washington who give the final approval. We hope to accomplish that sometime over the next three or four months. YMM: Is there anybody else that you know of that is applying for a similar patent? Bill: Not that we are aware of. We are kind of in a fortunate situation. We've got a niche market opportunity; we're not aware of any competition of anybody that's doing anything remotely close to what we are doing and we need to capitalize on that as quickly as we can. YMM: Tell us the status of your strategy of buying waste oil collection companies around the nation. Bill: In the US there are roughly 650 waste oil collectors. It's kind of an industry that was very similar to the trash industry a number of years ago that went through complete consolidation by Waste Management, Inc. The same opportunity exists in our little niche market. We have entered into a letter of intent to acquire Approved Oil Services out in Denver, CO. We hope to get that acquisition concluded pretty shortly. They process around 4 million gallons a year which is pretty consistent with the size of a large group of these. So we would be putting one of our own plants out there and realizing the economics of processing ourselves. YMM: Tell us about the program Green Oasis is involved in with the USC International Business School. Bill: They are developing us a European marketing strategy. They have also been developing us a CD-ROM which we can send out all over the world to people that explains the process. We have a student that we are going to sponsor this summer that is going to Germany that will represent the company in Europe. We are looking hopefully to have one of those students from Europe work in our office this summer. The benefits have just been tremendous. Michael Kline who runs that operation has just been a tremendous benefit to the company. ______________________
