Steve - Intel processors have outperformed SPARC and have had higher clock rates for a long time - many years. None the less, SPARC continues to sell - so there must be some other reason folks buy those systems. That being the case, more of the same (faster cheaper processors) won't change the balance of power. Why would you buy a Sun machine in those circumstances? A good question - and there are years of data from which to mine the answer...
