If you review my many posts on the previous thread you'll find that I strongly supported the XML effort and thought it was the way out. The company was fumbling badly on everything else but they did keep this skunk work going. You'll then see that I disappeared from posting for most of last year while the stock dropped to 2 - 3 just like I had predicted in '98. The XML effort was integrated into the superior object storage model and then extended to be a kind of CASE for Net enablement of ecommerce. The company went beyond what everyone else is doing and you'll see that I returned to the previous thread last fall when I sensed big changes were taking place not only in management but in technology. I didn't understand it then like just about everyone now. They hired some terrific engineers who wanted to go in a completely different direction. Bowman and Perreault had to go because they were on the wrong page with respect to this effort. I had ranted and raved about the criticality of using Objectstore in a Net environment because a Net environment required the exchange and management of diverse data types. That isn't true in the standard storage linear model where Objectstore can only effectively deliver a 30% utility advantage over various kinds of RDBMS. That isn't enough to get the installed base to undergo the costs and problems of a changeover, but the installed base doesn't have the luxury to not change since the explosion of the Net forces the base to have facility in diverse types. Objectstore now becomes a superior part of a general solution rather than the general solution. Within DAP the Javelin server becomes a terror to the other static developments in the field. We will be discussing all the other reasons why I have become very bullish on this stock in coming posts. I hope that it serves the purpose of showing to people that one should never let one's prejudices interfere with an objective evaluation of the facts. I was willing to look at the company as a new entity although I spent so much time hammering on her and predicted way back when that the company could not rise until it had transformed itself into a completely new company. This is what has happened.
