Jack,
Your message is well said, and I give you much credit for your knowledge of Lucent and the company's ties.
I am not a technical person, I am a salesperson. My information comes from a source who originated in a strong managerial position in ASND, and those on the thread who have read my comments from years gone by, you will remember, I was the first person on the thread to call the Lucent-Ascend takeover, and the approximate price of the deal. Through the many skeptics and critics who told me that I was full of sh-t, the deal took place, and my source was accurate.
As for the answer to your question. I don't have one that accurately would go into the technical detail you responded to me in. Therefore, I will simply retort with a very old but wise quote, "the turtle beats the hare everytime on the track, why is this so?" LU is clearly our turtle, and Cisco, etc., are clearly our hare's. I believe the race has really just begun. If you believe the Internet is just begining to take its place in the United States, and hasn't even remotely broken the barriers that exist once the Internet is global, and Universal, and "Current," this is the day I believe LU will shine, and I don't believe that day to be that far off in the distance. I believe that day will come when the Internet for example, comes out of the quadruple digit growth phase.
I would agree that there is a alot of "fat" at the top of LU, but I believe the same "fat" exists in CSCO, AT&T, and every potential "trillion dollar company." Speaking of "trillion dollar company's," would you bet that CSCO or LU will be the first to be there? Or might it be AOL?
To make a long story short, I am in LU and AVNX for the long haul. I have owned LU, ASND, for over 5 years, and now have taken a large position in AVNX. I believe, minus my technical knowledge, that LU will rise to the top and kick the sh-t out of CSCO in the long run. I may not be a genius, but my sources, and my stock plays have been very good to me, and I pray they shall continue to do so.
As I do for you.
Best,
Jamie |
