Then what good is it?? If TA can't help to predict the future course of a stock's price, then it is nothing more than an academic exercise in ancient history. I don't care to know every nuance of how and why a stock did what it did in the past, if that knowledge of the past action is "not a predictor of anything, either in the short or long term." I have never heard any TA advocate state the case against the utility of TA so forcefully! This is exactly what the academic studies say: TA is not a predictor of anything either in the short or long term.
