Well I thought I would do a little investigating about Penson's role in this short availability problem. What I found confuses me and upsets me even more.

I have a friend who uses Investin.com securities to trade. They also clear through Penson. Imagine my surprise when he was able to get both BBII and ANDR shares to short today and the day before.

My questions is then, why can they get these shares from Penson, but Cybercorp cannot? The only explanation I can come up with is that Cybercorp can, but that they are choosing not to, either because, as I asserted before, they are trying to minimize their risk by holding back available shares or because they aren't really trying to get these shares at all. Either way it is infuriating.

I asked for BBII again this morning and got "not available." Well I know for a fact that Penson had them because my friend could get shares. This really made me feel great as I watched the stock fall from 13 1/4 down to 11 13/16.

Making money as a trader is hard enough. It is impossible to do when your broker just won't let you.
