Hi All! I'm new to the boards, but have been watching posts "from the outside" with some interest. First, a technical point: The current corporate Articles for AMAT would have to be amended to allow a split bigger than 2 for 1. And a 2-1 would deplete the current stock pool allowed, leaving precious little for options. (Not even successive 3-for-2's would work, apparently.) That may be why we see a delay in splitting compared to previous upturns.

Also, this runup is more boisterous than previously, so AMAT management may be letting it ride until trade volumes slow; a signal that the price has outreached a portion of their "audience."

For a larger split, the Articles would have to be amended to approve more stock. No such amendment is currently proposed for the next annual meeting (to my knowledge). If they don't hurry, there won't be time to amend this year.

Then they'll have to let the price ride, however high it goes.
