Seeking Honda Civic advise from one and all:
My eldest daughter is looking at 93 to 96 Honda Civics. Has anyone had any experience with them? I know that generally Hondas are pretty reliable (well above average), but how are they acting these days at 70K+ miles? She will be "going away" to college in a few months and will thus end up driving a fairly high amount of road miles. I assume that "road trip" and college are still synonymous.
I have owned two Civics in the past, but it has ben a long time (73 and 79). 73 was the first year they sold them in the US. It had a 600cc engine, no a/c, only held two people fairly comfortably (although we once put 8 in it), and as I recall, the entire car only weighed about 1200 pounds - it is still amazing that I could get all of my 6 foot 8 inches comfortably in and out of it. It ended up on blocks or in places other than where I parked it more than once while I was in college. But, it was a great car, as was the 79.
Are they still as good, as reliable, and as cheap to operate, maintain, and repair?
Any opinions would be appreciated. TIA
Troy
PS - At once time I knew all about the order and meaning of DX, EX, FX, LX, RX (still know about that one, just in a different context), etc. Must be a sign of getting older. Do they still go in order DX, EX, LX, etc.? |
