I am beginning to agree that Bernie is losing credibility even with one of his long-term supporters - me. His comment in the conf call re: handsets in the retail outlets within a few weeks has since been catagorically denied by Airtouch. Marc Nabi stated in his most recent report that his announcement on broadband strategy with Cyberstar was premature because no details could be provided. All anyone heard was that it would cost a measly 3.5 billion and the assumption is that it will all come from Loral. I suspect that is why Loral's stock has been down since the call. (Maybe this discussion belongs on the Loral board but I suspect it is read by most of the same folks over here.) I am getting frustrated to say the least. If the 3.5 bil is going to be 100% Loral then all the fun there has been pushed out another five years. However, BS did say that they would use the same model as G*. So does that mean they will spin off Cyberstar and fund it with a combo of debt and equity? I assume the equity would be provided in part by the public and in part by strategic partners like G*. He can't mention who the potential partners might be because of the current quiet period. Damn! I don't know the answer to these questions and I wish I did. I think most other shareholders would like to know too.
