Strategy is something that each individual has to decide for themselves. Many factors are involved, including whether your shares are in taxable accounts or tax deferred ones, how soon you need the cash, etc. Mine are sitting 70%-30% tax deferred, so I have plenty of flexibility.

For myself, I usually use the tax deferred accounts more for trading cycle peaks and dips, sometimes adding shares and sometimes using the extra cash for diversification, while holding the taxable account shares until long term status.

This works for me. What works for you you will have to find out for yourself. But yes, if I think I see a cycle peak nearby, I will probably sell some. We seem to be covering these ranges more than once so why not?
