San Jose, California, February 10, 2000 - Netro Corporation (NASDAQ: NTRO), a market leader in broadband wireless access systems, today announced that the number of AirStar™ deployments worldwide has increased to 40, including some deployments that span multiple cities. Eight of these deployments represent commercial pilot installations. These pilots are with service providers such as: Techtel (Argentina), NTL (UK), Airtel (a BT and Vodafone affiliate in Spain), Comsat (Peru), two customers in the Middle East and two license holders in Germany.
"The wireless broadband market is one of the hot spots for Internet infrastructure and important for future economic growth," said Gideon Ben-Efraim, president and chief executive officer of Netro Corporation. "Some of our commercial pilot customers expanded their systems in the fourth quarter as the market began to move towards the mass deployment phase."
