Network Associates Announces First On-Line Detector for 'Zombie' Agents

CyberCop Zombie Scanning Service Available Free at myCIO.com Web Site

Updates Also Available for Users of CyberCop Scanner

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Feb. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Network Associates, Inc. (Nasdaq: NETA - news) today announced the first and only on-line solution available
to detect a family of computer vulnerabilities and ``zombie' agents, stopping hackers' ability to secretly link networked computer systems in distributed denial of
service (DDoS) attacks. The new detector service, which will help protect companies like Yahoo!, Ebay, Amazon, E-Trade and Microsoft from further attack, is
available free at the web site of myCIO.com, a Network Associates company, mycio.com , or through Network Associates at nai.com . (In
a related release, Network Associates also announced updates to its flagship McAfee VirusScan anti-virus product that can detect and remove the malicious code
responsible for launching DDoS attacks. See accompanying release.) A conference call to discuss these details will be held at 10:00 a.m. PST, 888-243-1745, pass
code: myCIO.

For enterprise users of CyberCop Scanner, updates with detection for all Zombie agents and DDoS vulnerabilities are available through Network Associates at
nai.com .

The free service, called CyberCop Zombie Scan, is the only online vulnerability assessment solution to detect the Zombie agents used in this week's DDoS attacks,
as well as the vulnerabilities that allow hackers to secretly deposit ``zombie' agents that are called-upon in a coordinated fashion to overwhelm targeted web sites
with requests. If CyberCop Zombie Scan detects the Zombie agents or any vulnerabilities that can lead to distributed denial of service attacks, the user will receive
detailed information on how to determine if the zombie agent is present, and if so, what steps are needed to disable it.

``It is time for the millions of users and organizations who have benefited from the Internet to do their part to eliminate this threat. Zombie Scan is the only internet
based service that users can deploy to determine if they are unknowingly contributing to this crisis,' said Zach Nelson, president and CEO of myCIO.com.

Zombie Scan is a subset of CyberCop ASaP, the world's first 100 per cent web-based security audit application service. Unlike some complex vulnerability
assessment tools that require a dedicated resource to run, manage and update, CyberCop ASaP is entirely Internet-based, reducing the time required to conduct
comprehensive security audits from months to minutes. The CyberCop ASaP application service conducts more than 700 tests to provide detailed vulnerability
reports and proposed fixes to help customers secure their e-business applications.

CyberCop ASaP is an internet version of PGP Security's widely used CyberCop Scanner product, which recently won PC Week magazine's highly coveted
``Analyst's Choice' award for best security scanner. The CyberCop Scanner software can be used by a network administrator to scan local and distributed systems
for vulnerabilities, combining blazing performance with powerful reporting tools to make securing a network a logical, step-by-step process. CyberCop Scanner
customers can add detection for these new zombie agents by downloading the product's February Signature Update Pack from www.pgp.com or by calling
800-338-8754 ext. 2871 and requesting a CD that contains these updates. Users can also download a trial version of CyberCop Scanner that already includes
scanning for these vulnerabilities. PGP Security also provides on-sight professional consulting services to ensure customers are fully protected.

``These DDoS attacks show how easily systems -- even Solaris and Linux systems -- can be compromised without a user's knowledge,' continued Nelson. ``These
attacks reinforce the need for multiple layers of security protection including firewall, PGP data encryption, and regular vulnerability assessments.'
