Metrocall Unveils New Management Structure Preparing for Launch Of Two-Way Messaging and New Relationship With 'Inciscent'
Gencarella Will Direct Field Operations & Regions
ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Metrocall, Inc. (Nasdaq: MCLL) today announced several strategic changes to the Company's overall management structure. The announcement covers four of Metrocall's six corporate divisions: Advanced Messaging; Cellular and PCS Services; System Applications; and, Wireless Content and Advanced Applications. In addition, the Company made several other senior personnel announcements regarding the appointment and promotion of certain management executives to oversee these divisions and other areas of responsibility.

The following senior management changes were announced:
Albert E. Gencarella will become Senior Vice President for Business and Field Operations, reporting to chief operating officer Steven D. Jacoby, and will oversee Metrocall's seven operating regions. The Company's regional vice presidents will report directly to Gencarella and all major operational decision-making will be his. He will focus on developing new markets as well as increasing Metrocall's size, scale and scope in targeted markets. A wireless messaging industry veteran, Gencarella has been serving as senior vice president for business operations since November, 1998, primarily focused on messaging operations and cost containment initiatives. Prior to joining Metrocall, Gencarella was senior vice president of Novocomm, Inc., a company involved in developing wireless communications systems in the former Soviet Union. His experience includes being a chief executive officer, chief financial officer and controller of companies in the messaging, cellular telephone and cable television industries.
"Al Gencarella's promotion and the other personnel moves we are announcing today better enable Metrocall's management team to meet the needs of our expanding customer base and allows me to have direct-report relationships for key product channels. The division heads for digital PCS phone sales and advanced two-way messaging will now report directly to me," stated COO Jacoby. Steve Pennington has been promoted to Corporate Vice President, Cellular and PCS Services Division, reporting directly to Jacoby. Pennington, who has sixteen years of wireless communications experience, will oversee Metrocall's authorized dealer relationship with AT&T Wireless and other cellular and PCS phone carriers, such as SunCom, Sprint PCS and ALLTEL. Pennington has headed this product channel as a vice president since coming to Metrocall in January of 1999. Prior to coming to Metrocall, Pennington was group vice president at AMERICOM. From 1989 to 1994 he was a founder and executive of FirstPage USA, Inc.
William D. Harrell has been promoted to Corporate Vice President, Advanced Messaging Division, also reporting directly to the COO. Harrell will have responsibility for bringing to the marketplace the company's full spectrum of wireless Advanced Messaging services, including two-way messaging, assured messaging on demand with response, peer-to-peer communications and Internet access. Harrell came to Metrocall in the acquisition of AT&T Wireless' Advanced Messaging Division in October, 1998, and directed the integration of the AT&T Wireless network into Metrocall's operations.
Nancy M. Green has been promoted to Vice President, Systems Application Division (which is primarily focused on the health care industry), reporting to G. Randall Forster, senior vice president for sales & distribution. Green will oversee the selling of Metrocall's custom software/hardware solutions including the Integrated Resources Management (IRM) system, LAN software and Alertlink software. She will direct a national sales organization of more than thirty specially trained individuals. Green came to Metrocall in the acquisition of ProNet Communications in December, 1997. Green has fifteen years of experience in the wireless messaging and telecommunications industry.
Timothy J. Moore will be Vice President, Wireless Content & Advanced Applications Division, reporting to Stan Sech, senior vice president for Business and Corporate Development & Integration. Moore will oversee content development as well as software that delivers wireless Internet content to mobile messaging devices, such as the "OnTheGoInfo" engine developed with Motorola and "MyOnTheGoPortfolio" engine developed with MicroStrategy's "Strategy.com."
