Nadine, unfortunately, an unpleasant question comes to mind. How many leaders have we had as President lately? The latest one I would regard as a true leader, was Reagan. Bush, probably, did more than was made public because he was not one to boast but, also did not show enough strength if the face of a democratically controlled congress. Carter was a very decent human being, but not leader. Kennedy was a dreamer but, not a doer. He never got one of his programs through congress. LBJ, was an, out and out, crook. His only claim to power was knowing where all the skeletons were in every congressman's closet. Nixon tried to lead but, was a royalist and, instead of admitting that his staff had committed a crime, he ducked for cover and tried to cover it up. Not a leadership quality. It would be redundant to go into the degradation, and shame, Clinton has brought to the office. So, where do we go from here? I don't claim to have the answer but, am leery of McCain. His inability to control his temper, and his being seemingly oblivious to the criminal activities of his wife, cause me concern. These things did not happen in the "wild" years of youth but, recently. Gore is an absolute joke. If all else fails, I will have to choose the lesser of the two evils. What other choice does our system give us? ~H~ |
