Peter Wong to Head Hutchison-Global Crossing HK Joint Venture

Hong Kong, Feb. 10 (Bloomberg) -- Hutchison Whampoa Ltd. said it named Peter Wong chief executive of Hutchison Global Crossing Ltd., its newly formed $1.2 billion venture with Global Crossing Ltd., a U.S.-based Internet-protocol telecoms services provider.

Wong was previously fixed-network director of Hutchison Telecommunications (Hong Kong) Ltd.

Peter Yip was appointed chief technology officer of the 50-50 joint venture, which will provide local fixed-network and IDD services in Hong Kong.

The parent company also said Dennis Lui, managing director of Hutchison Telecommunications, will leave the company at the end of this month. Local newspapers have reported that Lui will join Asia Net, an Internet company backed by U.S. venture capital.
