I was disappointed in the CC - pretty low energy. After hinting prior to the announcement that there would be a change in strategic direction, I expected at least SOMETHING specific but all I heard is that DELL is going to start doing a few things the competition has been doing for a while. I didn't hear of a single initiative which is not already an active program with DELL's competition - this is more of the same fast follower strategy.

More troubling was the guidance which sounded a lot like "we don't know for sure when we will see any growth but we can hardly say less than 30%... but don't expect ANY growth next quarter either... " so somehow they are going to go from 3 quarters of essentially flat earnings to a growth rate that will deliver 30% for the year. That sounds a lot like 40% for the remaining 3 quarters...

I wish they could have come out and said "yea, the business is changing, yea, we misfired over the last couple of quarters and it's not all fixed yet, but here's how we're going to get back on track" and then put some stakes in the ground. Here's the program, here's how you can measure us, here's what we will be accountable for, and if we do that, we think we will be successful. I didn't hear anything like that and I sure didn't come away with any comfort.
