Help me out in understanding the Cree story regarding discontinuous innovation. I have no problem acknowledging that Led's replacing lightbulbs is discontinuous and Cree does possess an enabling technology to make this happen and their low cost production techniques make spur mass-market adoption, eventually.

Are their techniques to produce the SiC itself discontinuous and if so to whom? If not, does this eliminate gorillahood as they would at best be a king-like component supplier in a soon to develop tornado?

Disclaimer, I own a modest position in Cree at $55

I am asking this as I see strong parallels to my soon to be published Kopin Gorilla Hunt report and I need all the help I can get :)
