OT, Darleen, Ranch 99
That's where I picked up some Texas Orange for 25 cents/lb last week. Ralph is charging 69 cents/lb.
A few years ago, after lunch at a Chinese restaurant, my friend and I went to Ranch 99 next door just to browse around the store. In the seafood section, we saw a clerk standing by a big Chinese wok filled with cooking oil. He was deep frying a big fish - in the supermarket. My friend was wondering why are they doing that. I, as Jack of all trades, told him that I think people usually have to drive for quite a distance no matter where they go in S. Cal. So by deep frying the fish, they can keep the fish inside the car in a hot sunny summer day without going bad easily. Then all of a sudden, I heard this giggles from a girl standing right next to us, then she start laughing really hard - almost hysterically. I realized that I probably just made a big ass out of myself by making that comment. After we exited the store, we came across that girl again in the parking lot, she start laughing at me again when she saw me.
Later on I learned that in various dishes of Chinese, they fry the fish before they cook it or put it a hot pot. A typical household doesn't have such a big wok filled with gallons of oil, so the store does the service for them.
My friend told me the girl actually showing sign of interesting in me. Mmmm... what a dumbass I was, especially the girl was kinda cute. Too bad that before I thought I understand woman, I've already lost all of my freedom. |
