bgr, i don't think the buck is as weak as some folks think. bottom line - the world needs the buck more than the buck needs the world. until that view changes, the buck has some big advantages.

i disagree the wealth effect is a myth. remember, the wealth effect impacts demand. inflation is not based solely upon demand. the equation is incomplete. supply factors need to be incorporated.

the main reason that cpi hasn't increased is b/c of a glut of goods produced around the world. our wealth effect demand prevented price collapses as opposed to created inflation. another significant reason is that the govt is playing games with the numbers. the cpi number is manipulated.

there is incredible incentive to the powers that be to keep this economy going forward. worldwide powers.

the market will fall toward historical valuation levels, but it might be quite a bit longer than some folks anticipate, imho.
