Powerwave to Exhibit at the GSM World Congress in Cannes, France

IRVINE, Calif., Jan 31, 2000 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Powerwave Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq:PWAV) will be exhibiting at the GSM World
Congress in Cannes, France, Feb. 1-4, 2000 at stand E5.

The new Chameleon multi-carrier RF power amplifier (MCPA) will be featured as one of the first amplifiers designed for third generation (3G) systems in the 2110 to 2170 MHz band. The G3L-2100-30 series MCPA is Powerwave's platform for the emerging 3G systems and can be
used in either single carrier RF power amplifier (SCPA) or MCPA configurations.

This provides network operators the opportunity to implement the Chameleon-2100 for small, single transceiver deployments but still
maintain the flexibility of an MCPA as their networks grow.

Powerwave will also be demonstrating the high power capabilities of its latest EDGE/GSM compatible multi-carrier RF power amplifier. The
G3H-900-80 series provides an MCPA solution with 150 Watts in a 2-module rack configuration supporting up to 16 EDGE/GSM signals.
Additional solutions are being developed for sites requiring up to 300 Watts of EDGE/GSM power per sector.

EDGE based products including booster solutions will be featured at the GSM World Congress as well. Members of Powerwave's sales,
marketing and engineering groups will be attending to provide information about Powerwave's RF power amplifiers.

"Powerwave is continuing to demonstrate its position as one of the leaders in RF power amplifier design and manufacturing," stated Bruce
C. Edwards, President and Chief Executive Officer.

"With the addition of the Chameleon-2100 and the G3H-900-80 products, we are further enhancing our position as one of the leading
suppliers of MCPA technology. This, along with our EDGE SCPA capabilities, allows our customers to accelerate their time-to-market with
next generation networks handling both voice and data transmission."
