DELL, Strong agressive buy.. Ashok's interview

DELL:(have Feb calls on)

Just listened to Kumar Ashok's DELL upgrade interview. Hains and the guest didn't get the basic point being made, which is that within the small universe of box makers DELL is a depressed valuation stock. In an agressive technology move that failed, they had hitched their wagon to Rambus and poorly delivered Intel chips. This put them behind the curve and allowed vendors such as CPQ to gain market in the middle of the technology curve. They have now spread that risk especially with sdram vs rambus, as has Intel (which also suffered from Rambus delivery). That part of the valuation is about to jump. With Rambus and faster sdram DELL is once again going to milk its mastery of just in time manufacturing and agressive direct to market selling. Secondly, boxes only comprise 55% of Dell's business, which to me shows they are agressively pursueing more profitable avenues outside the commodity business they dominate. The price target for DELL of 55 is reasonable.
