Another 850 review:

From an overclockers standpoint, the Athlon 850 represents a speed freaks dream come true. Using the ASUS K7M mainboard, we cranked the bus speed from the standard 100Mhz up to 112Mhz which gave us a speed of 952Mhz using traditional cooling methods (Fan&Heatsink). This is largely due to the .18 micron process that the 850 is made upon. Smaller size means less heat, in fact even at this speed the chip ran cooler than our 700Mhz Athlon which is built on a .25 micron.

The overall stability of this CPU, running on the Viper 750 Chipset, cannot be overlooked, and we're confident that we'll see the same on the newer KX 133 mobo's.

There's always been the horror stories of GeForce cards having compatibility issues with the Athlon platform. This is something that we've never been able to duplicate on any Athlon motherboard we've tested. Originally there was the problem that the AMD chipset couldn't hang with the GeForce when running AGP 2x, well the latest drivers from nVIDIA and from the card makers solved this problem by issuing a "band aid" for it, and disabling AGP 2x support in the drivers so the video card is forced down to 1X AGP.

There were, of course, some people who threw a fit about this as well. Keep in mind that it's still not a very big deal as most games still don't support the extra bandwidth of AGP 2x.
