Goldman,
This morning I searched for "John Stokes" using the SI content search feature and found my name in about a dozen messages over the last few days that I had missed, I can't keep up.... but I have to respond to yours.
I've deliberately taken a neutral stance on Bre-X, playing devil's advocate for both sides, figuring it is the best way to get info for my own investment ideas.
> he believes Bre-x is sitting on at least 100 million ounces of gold
I know I've never said that.
> holes were sparse and that was 4 of thei 7 holes
No, I said, 3 of the 4 twins were sparse. One, BSSE-63 was in a rich area and has not been explained.
Of the 3 scissors, I've shown that one of them, BSSE-202 went through the very richest holes of the strike.
I'll reveal at this late stage, that up until the Bre-X drill report press release I was leaning for the Bulls. But the three problems... de Guzman's suicide on the way to talk to Freeport about their results, Freeport results and subsequent restatement of the results, and the location/timing and seemingly great mathematical improbability of the Bre-X duds, together has turned me intellectually bearish to the point where I've elected not to hold Bre-X stock going into The Verdict, despite the fact I have seen no satisfactory explanation for how the alleged salting could have been done on such a scale. Emotionally, I very, very much want Bre-X to have the gold.
Perhaps you could "come out" and explain to the fullest extent possible how you think Freeport could have screwed up.
Aside to Russ, I did update the map late last night to expand the legend and include an explanation for how the figures were calculated. Later today or tomorrow I plan to run the figures and do my own back-of-the envelope resource calcuation and estimate the impact of the duds.
Regards,
