problem in the real world that when the model places so much pressure on the primary link in the supply chain, any secondary or tertiary link, combined have difficulty in keeping the chain intact. very few suppliers will sit and wait until the primary fails, unless of course you give them a guarantee of payment for a production run, whether or not product is transfered upstream ...this method has the same effect as maintaining inventory...
