Tony,

Your thinking is too narrow, Tony. You have a hardware orientation
to the business. There's no question that hardware carries a lot
of currency in the computer business, but there's more to it than
that.

You have to understand that large-scale customers don't buy hardware.
They buy solutions. SUNW IS practically alone in its refusal to
resell a piece of crap like Windows and hardware from INTC. That
doesn't make their company any less attractive, however.

The world could be innundated with Itaniums and even IF they were
RISC-killers (which they aren't), who are the companies that support
SOLUTIONS using Itaniums???? What kind of solutions? How long
have they been in business providing those solutions?

That doesn't mean INTC won't make money selling them, or M$FT won't
make money with their latest-and-greatest folly-masquerading-as-
system-software. But count ALL of them out of the high-margin
enterprise business, because the "solutions" they collectively
provide don't really exist. For client desktop computing, W2K &
Linux can battle it out, but SUNW is in a completely different
market. You can't really compare them Tony...
