Remember that the Pentium III above 700 MHz is still in short supply, while Athlon supply seems to be rather plentiful. Either that means a severe production problem on Intel's part (one of the themes over on the AMD thread), or a high-end demand imbalance between Intel and AMD.

I think the news is good for Intel as well as for AMD. Everyone talks about the MHz race, when the real issue here is volumes. And if the low-end demand really is stronger than expected (remember, this is where the real volumes are), we can see prices in this range firm up, leading to a slightly higher ASP.
