I like the tighter margin requirements for day traders. The reality is that anyone with enough stock-picking ability could quickly reach $25K without margin, starting from $2K. By that time, the experience of trading will enable the person to understand the rigors and risks that day-trading on margin entails. The more I think about it, the more I like it. Sort of protects the novice from quickly becoming an day ex-trader, particularly given the hipe from some day-trader promoters. Joe.
