Yes, it would be. I read that money funds actually had more additions in 1999 than stock funds. (article didn't mention that online trading has eaten into mutual funds). Still, it was interesting to think that the country is just SO WEALTHY that we can spend like "drunken sailors" on cars and 600 inch TVs, put record amounts into money funds and STILL drive the tech stocks to the tree tops and perhaps soon into the sky.

When supply and demand get out of whack, you sometimes think real estate is a good buy.... Well, real estate is just as amazing here in the Silicon valley as a share of AMAT!

Cash? Perhaps. Is the country SO WEALTHY that the old metrics are getting turned upside down? Maybe the true value is outside the US? Software labor is cheap in India. Perhaps the market is just showing us what great companies will drive the World into the 2000's?

Unless you have a really good crystal ball, it does seem that a well diversified portfolio will cover you. Still, no body with credibility is saying buy gold... so that means no real inflation ahead. Seems to leave either a soft landing or a crash. Perhaps the tech stock prices are societies way of realligning where GM, Ford, Exxon and Alcoa are not as important as AMAT, CSCO, MSFT, etc?

Interesting times.
