Good question. I think Mr. Sanders is in something resembling denial. He's made extraordinary bets on microprocessors, and has to keep everybody believing in them in order to not be drawn and quartered.

Mr Sanders can't afford to be in denial when he is competing with Intel. Besides he is nowhere near in the kind of position you describe....he just came off one of AMD's best quarters......he can sit back and bask in its glory until the end of Feb at least. Besides if he wanted to puff his cpu division, it would have been the Athlon and not the K6.

Frankly, I think you may have overthought this one and see subplots where there are none.....are you a Californian?
