i listened to both the conference call and analyst meeting, and agree with
your summary.
i think Capellas honestly believes 15% growth is very achievable if they
execute well, but when told by analysts that was too high, was inclined to let
them model what they wanted and let results speak for themselves.

the example which Capellas cited was 1999 PC shipments, i believe. he
mentioned that IDC revised their estimates upwards a few times in 1999 and
the final numbers still came out higher than that. CPQ sees IDC's 2000
estimates way low.

i might also add that Enrico mentioned again $1billion additional revenue
stream from Wildfire. they might be overly conservative there. SKC estimated
closer to $2billion additional revenue from Wildfire. even if you take only half
of the difference, since the ship date has slipped back a little bit more, $500
million is an additional 1.3% of revenue growth
