How dare anyone question the ability of the male to feel empathy for another's pain? Witness the behavior of men when someone in a game gets his "bell rung"-(at least I think that's the charming euphemism my husband uses) They all groan and cringe and involuntarily adjust themselves, then laugh softly and with tender understanding, while the women observe this extreme display of emotion by their usually taciturn and surly machomen with perplexity, wondering why they don't get the same response to their pains.
