THIS WEEK IN THE FRONT OFFICE

Your regular programming is interrupted to bring you this special, mid-month report of the Front Office Gorilla Game.

The News
There is a great, short article at Business Week Online about Marriott's use of Siebel software. To quote part of it, "In 1998, the sales-force software helped Marriott generate an additional $55 million in cross-chain sales. Anecdotal evidence also suggests there has been a jump in bookings from event planners, who find it easier to give business to Marriott, which has their needs on file, than put it out for bid.

Eliminating hassles for guests is the appeal of Marriott's free personal-planning service, too. It's now available at seven resorts, but Marriott aims to extend it to all 32 resorts by 2001. The software tracks guest preferences, so personal planners can anticipate amenities that repeat guests may want."

The Gorilla Game
Our Game is making up for this short, 29-day month by taking off like a rocket. Having advanced nearly $9,000 this month, it's important to remember that the entire investment less than two years ago was only $10,000. While the S&P 500 is down almost 6% year-to-date and the Naz is up a hefty 8%, our Front Office Gorilla Game is up a whopping 22.7% immediately after having increased 272% last year.

Are you still with me?
For those of you who really do take the time to read my messages about the front office, today's final bit of information will no doubt produce nothing more than a yawn. That's because you do your own research. You come to your own conclusions. The only advice of mine you follow is that you don't base any of your investment decisions on anything I write. Understanding that, you'll be quite bored to learn that even I have come to the conclusion that Siebel is the Gorilla of the CRM comprehensive software suites.

Back to your regular programming.
