Unfortunately the end of the world is always extremely demanding, since it is never really the end of the world, but, far more important, our own personal end.

In any case, sometimes a simple broadening of the time perspective helps. Let me try to explain the Buddhist conception of the kalpa, which helps give the human being a more cosmic perspective about the nature of time. For Buddhists there are beings who pursue the dharma (the path or the way) for hundreds of thousands of millions of kalpas. A kalpa is measured in the following manner: every 500 years or so an angel comes from wherever an angel comes from and brushes its wings lightly against a mountain in the Himalayan range. The time which it takes for the whole Himalayan range to disappear from the friction of the angel's wings, constitutes a single kalpa.

So, sit back, relax and enjoy.
