Kenneth, my question was not whether SONET must go. it's a given that 7 SONET rings stepping down the speed of the light to an electronic "crawl" will be eliminated; and that an all photonic network will someday soon replace all those complexities. my question is: will cien lead that charge and leave nortel behind because they have technologies more efficient than nortel's and because they don't have to lug around the legacy networks of the old telecoms? jack
