Of course it will not work in the current state of the internet - what you assume is that the TCP/IP protocol stack will remain as it is.

I believe these denial of service attacks will prompt the "keepers of the internet" to evolve a more secure and manageable protocol taking the advantages of the current IP stack and move it forward.

See, we've identified a "weakness" - now let's find a solution that will work.
