Don,

While the article made a lot of questionable statements, it shows that Linux is a real threat in the set-top box market. In my opinion, our success in this market depends on:

1)How far will Liberate carry us?
2)How soon will Java be there?
3)Will the pSOS design-wins materialize?
4)Will WRS push pSOS in this market or VxWorks, or both?
5)When will WRS' OS be endorsed by major application developers?
6)How well do we compete against other OS packages for broadband set-tops, which will include multimedia applications over high speed IP, such as IP phone, video phone, and streaming? Much of this is supported by Liberate already, but should WRS rely on Liberate or take matters to its own hands, especially after the signing of the Liberate-TiVo deal?
