CT: In terms of capacity - yes. In terms of yield - yes. TI concentrates on DSP products - they sold their RAM stuff to Micron - which basically makes RAM as do Samsung and others in that market. LSI Logic is in an entirely different market. I am talking about being the best producer of cpu chips. And given the level of sophistication of those chips and the need to interface with a variety of situations in which these chips are deployed they are the undisputed champion of chips. There are a lot of single purpose chip mfrs. out there. RFMD for tranceiver filters in wireless area. QLogig and INPH in SAN chips. GALT in networking chips.GLBX and ORCT in DSL chips. But there is only one company that can supply the most sophisticated chips to the largest markets in the world at the best yields and that is INTC. By the way INTC has entered the network market very successfully and has now put its sights on the DSL market. How fully they integrate these products into single chip products is something we can only guess about.JFD
