The Kyocera/Mita merger has been approved and to be fully integrated by the end of the month. A new homepage of kyoceramita.com is now available. It indicates what we have surmised earlier, that Kyocera will now start marketing many of their products under the Mita brand name, i.e printers, scanners, fax, etc.
It appears there's two production facilities from Mita - Hongkong and South Carolina. One has to presume much of the production of SC will be shifted to the lower costs of HK.
There's also opportunities for Deswell in the Kyocera/Qualcomm deal as Kyocera has already announced major reduction in Qualcomm's US labor force. Again, the assumption that production will be shifted to lower cost areas, i.e. HK.
With the recently announced deals of Kyocera/Mita, Kyocera/Qualcomm, VTech/Lucent, Namtai/Casio, etc, one has to presume that Jetcrown will be making major expansion this coming year. (Three of these deals are for cell phone production) I haven't posted because I can't confirm, but I've heard that this is already in the works. Hopefully this will be confirmed in the Q report.
