I agree wholeheartedly with all of your points except this: "As you know, Bob's call must be measured against the broader market."

I believe that each person should evaluate if Bob's market timing calls are appropriate for one's own style of investing. When evaluating whether or not I should be following Bob's market timing signals, I need to measure his calls relative to the performance of my portfolio, not the overall market.

I realize that the "game" is just beginning. Perhaps my table of results will change over the next few months to show that following Bob's sell signal was the correct thing for me to do. I believe that this is likely to happen, given the current market levels, trading patterns, and investor expectations.
