Sr. K, I believe MD was appearing before an Analyst's Meeting when he stated Y2K would not be a problem for Dell. If I am correct with respect to his being at the Analyst's Meeting, then one must conclude that the topics of discussion were all centered around the financial impact of Y2K on the company's meeting the Street's estimates.

IMO, MD had bad Y2K information, or just didn't know what was going on. For example, did Dell poll their customer base to get first hand information as to what these customers were going to be doing with respect to Y2K? Other companies such as EMC did.

What happened is that Dell said things were going well, and they did not go well. IMO, management is responsible for getting things right. How many negative surprises have we had over the past several months?
