Re: DOCSIS cable modems spec sheets

Hi Dennis and thread,

I will be getting a chance to talk to the data comms expert at my local MSO early next week, stay tuned.

In the meantime, what I am hoping to have him do is to find out if the new Toshiba DOCSIS cable modem is compatible with the Bend Cable plant. If so, I could soon experience an order of magnitude improvement in bandwidth. My present moden is a 3Com/USR CMX unit. It is theoretically rated at ~3Mbps downstream and ~1Mbps upstream. In contradistinction, the Tosh offers 43Mbps down and 10Mbps up. Wowsa! If this works, the slowest part of my Internet connection will become.....me. I like that.

Here's the data sheet info on the Tosh. Is anyone on the thread familiar with it or currently using it?

Best, Ray
