Right. There currently is no SCSI to Ethernet mapping facility. So, the market is SCSI -> FC -> GbE or ATM or SONET. With native FC drive controllers, it is FC -> to the other ULPs (Upper Level Protocols).

Since 10 GBE is still 3 or more years away, FC has an immediate path to assert itself as a combined SAN/LAN/WAN transport, should anyone care to pave that dirt road with some investor money. Whether the ethernet entrenched Networkers will go for that, or allow it to happen under their noses, is another matter.
