kas, DS's original point about apps not being written to NTAP's Filer OS was my point. Windows and Solaris may not be open, but many companies write applications to them. Nobody writes apps to NTAP's OS. Your point about sys admins and NTAP employees is surely valid, but this limits the scope of potential hacks. NTAP's OS is built from scratch. It is very specialized code designed to perform one function very fast. The original design team consists of Silicon Valley's finest, so only the code design they brought with them should be recognizable. I'll still ask around to see if I'm on the money. Coots
