Intellectual Property. It will be easier to combat piracy throughout the world, in the patent, copyright, and trademark field. Patent laws in the United States will change to conform to the new GATT agreement. Specifically, the patent term will be 20 years from the date of filing, and inventive activity in any WTO ("World Trade Organization") country can be used to establish a date of invention. In the copyright area, works not currently entitled to protection under copyright in the United States will have their copyrights "restored," if they are now protected in other WTO countries.
