I'd say it's rather a typical case where engineering did not go over the advertising literature and have their say. I doubt seriously that the copy writer even knew the difference between "physical transfer rate" of the channel coding, and the other "rates" that include fec, framing overhead, firmware/software latencies, etc... In any event, I e-mailed them informing them of this mistake.
